The Appalachian State University Campus Chapter promotes academic freedom, free speech, and viewpoint diversity for Appalachian's faculty, students, and staff.

Appalachian's Heterodox Campus Chapter recognizes academic freedom, free speech, and viewpoint diversity as fundamental to the life of the university. The rise of enforced orthodoxy within academic culture threatens the open inquiry and robust exchange of ideas that must define academic life if universities are to play a relevant role in contemporary culture.

As custodians of the university, the faculty must protect and defend academic freedom, research, and free speech. Our Campus Chapter is committed to advocacy and community-building in support of these values.
