HxA Campus Community at Brigham Young University

Welcome to the HxA Campus Community at Brigham Young University. We strive to exemplify pluralistic peacemaking and unity through living the teachings of Jesus Christ; further, we intend to nourish a campus community of believing scholars, where faculty, staff, and students join together to prioritize the charitable practice of truth-seeking in an increasingly polarized world.

The mission of the HxA Campus Community at Brigham Young University (BYU) is to support BYU in assisting individuals in their quest for perfection and eternal life, which includes seeking to develop students of faith, intellect, and character who have the skills and desire to continue learning and to serve others throughout their lives (BYU Mission Statement). We pledge to help BYU embrace a culture of open inquiry characterized by the free exchange of ideas, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement, while helping to achieve education that is spiritually strengthening, intellectually enlarging, and character building (Aims of a BYU Education). Because we believe the gospel encompasses all truth and affirms the full range of human modes of knowing, we maintain that the scope of integration for disciple-scholars is, in principle, as wide as truth itself; further, we acknowledge that individual academic freedom is based not only on a belief in the value of free inquiry but also on the gospel principle that humans are moral agents who should seek knowledge in the sacred as well as in the secular, in continuing revelation as well as in the written word of God (BYU Academic Freedom Policy).
