Carnegie Mellon University

The HxA Campus Community at Carnegie Mellon grew out of the Students Prioritizing Effective Argumentation and Knowledge (SPEAK) initiative and was inspired by Professor Simon Cullen’s course Dangerous Ideas in Science and Society.
We foster an environment where students, faculty, and staff can debate challenging questions and a wide range of viewpoints with intellectual humility and curiosity. Through guest speakers, structured debates, student discussions in person and on Sway, and panels featuring multiple perspectives, we aim to create spaces for open, rigorous, and respectful dialogue on difficult and often overlooked topics.
