Macalester College

Macalester's HxA Campus Community cultivates the liberal arts tradition through institutional advocacy and unfettered dialogue, creating spaces where radical curiosity and constructive disagreement flourish in pursuit of truth.
Macalester College's Heterodox Academy Campus community is a community initiative fostering intellectual diversity within the liberal arts tradition. We promote open discourse through student panels and community workshops where ideas can be respectfully debated. Our advocacy focuses on creating an environment where students and faculty from diverse intellectual backgrounds feel empowered to engage with challenging concepts.
Ultimately, our goal is to improve the quality of discourse at Macalester through prompting serious reflection among members of our student body, faculty, and administration, about how we can best adhere to our institutional mission. We seek to cultivate an environment where intellectual curiosity and reasoned disagreement are valued intrinsically as a pathway to deepening understanding.
