Courageous Conversations Faculty Summer Intensive
Heterodox Academy members who attended the last conference in Brooklyn may recall the highly attended session led by Tom Scott and Simon Greer on Courageous Conversations. Shortly after, we hosted a very popular webinar with Tom and Simon. Now, building on that work, HxA is collaborating with the The Nantucket Project to invite individual faculty — including members from the HxA network — to apply for a one-of-a-kind immersive summer learning experience.
From July 10th-26th, the summer intensive will convene a select cohort of faculty and campuses at UNC-Chapel Hill, followed by a multi-fault line learning delegation through Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
While the Israeli-Palestinian conflict serves as the central case study for the program, the frameworks and materials we will explore are designed for broader application across today’s most pressing and polarizing topics — equipping faculty with practical tools to break patterns of self-censorship, silencing, and cancellation, and to advance genuine dialogue across difference.
Priority will be given to faculty who are enthusiastic and entrepreneurial about integrating and adapting the curriculum and case study in ways that align with their courses, campus culture, and areas of expertise. More than a summer experience, this program is fostering a community of faculty leaders committed to strengthening civil discourse, viewpoint diversity,
bridge-building, and dialogue across difference in higher education.
Application deadline: April 1.
Spots are limited. Apply here.
Financial subsidies are available for those for whom participation costs would otherwise be prohibitive.
