Affiliate Conversation with Jonathan Friedman, Director of the Campus Free Speech Project at PEN America

A headshot of Jonathan Friedman

On November 24, 2020 from 5-6pm Eastern, Jonathan Friedman, HxA Member and Director of the Campus Free Speech Project at PEN America, led this discussion about why free speech, diversity, and inclusion have tended to clash on campuses--and why they don't have to. We focused on practical solutions drawn from PEN America's Campus Free Speech Guide concerning some of the tensions that we've seen in classrooms, residences, and among student groups, and explored how students, faculty, and administrators can facilitate campus communities that support open expression for all.

This event was open to Undergraduate and Graduate HxA Affiliates.
