Are Universities Failing to Provide a Culture of Free Speech and Open Inquiry?

The Steamboat Institute, in partnership with the Cornell Political Union, Heterodox Academy at Cornell, and Heterodox Academy at SUNY Cortland, is proud to present a compelling debate on the following resolution: Be it resolved, universities are failing to provide a culture of free speech and open inquiry. Arguing the affirmative is Ilya Shapiro, Senior Fellow and Director of Constitutional Studies, Manhattan Institute. Arguing the negative is Mary Anne Franks, Ph.D., Professor in Intellectual Property, Technology, and Civil Rights Law, George Washington University Law School. Moderator is Amber Duke, Washington Editor at The Spectator; Cohost of Rising at The Hill TV; Tony Blankley Fellow, The Steamboat Institute.
