Campus Conversations is a relaxed, brown-bag lunch gathering where faculty and staff come together to talk about the issues shaping our lives, our work, and our campus. We will provide dessert and beverages!

These aren’t lectures or debates—they’re opportunities to listen, share, and learn from one another. We will explore timely topics, sometimes challenging ones, in a space built on respect, curiosity, and connection.

The topic for this event will be on "Beyond Burnout" - Creating Space: Individual & Systemic Perspectives, hosted by the Professional Staff Association (PSA). This session will explore the growing challenge of burnout across roles on campus, highlighting both individual and systemic perspectives;
- Burnout has become a widespread challenge in higher education, affecting both students and employees.
- Pressures around workload, performance expectations, financial strain, and constant connectivity are leading to rising levels of stress, disengagement, and mental health concerns.
- Some view burnout as an individual wellness issue that can be mitigated with resilience training and personal strategies.
- Others argue it is a systemic problem rooted in institutional culture, resource allocation, and structural demands that require policy-level change.

This conversation invites participants to explore how burnout is experienced differently across campus roles, how institutions might balance personal responsibility and systemic solutions, and what trade-offs may arise when addressing this issue.

We can learn to better understand each other, strengthen our community, and build the relationships that help us navigate tough issues—together. Bring your lunch, thoughts, and curiosity. You will have a seat saved for you to join in on these conversations.
