On Thursday, December 19, 2019, New York City’s famed Comedy Cellar hosted a show to benefit Heterodox Academy. With over 120 people in the audience, our community came together to mix and mingle, enjoy a night of laughs, and support the work that HxA is doing.
Our Executive Director, Debra Mashek, started off the show by introducing Heterodox Academy and giving a few updates on recent progress. Then, six comics took the stage, each sharing slices of their lives, engaging with the audience, and of course, telling some great jokes.
The show was an opportunity for members of the HxA community to celebrate the holidays and HxA in an informal setting. Events like these are important ways to foster community among our members that leads to expanded networks, inspiring conversations, and exchanges of ideas.
HxA would like to thank Comedy Cellar for making this happen, the comics for performing in support of viewpoint diversity, and all members of the HxA community for attending the show and supporting our organization.
