Killing with Words? Language and Violence from 1930s Europe to the Present
This program offers a vital opportunity for reflection, education, and dialogue across campus, which will feature a distinguished historian specializing in the history of violence, language, and culture in Central Europe, Prof. Pegelow Kaplan. The session will explore how ideologies of hate have taken root in the past, the catastrophic consequences they produced, and how history can inform our resistance to similar movements today. He will explore the media strategies that white supremacists use and how university campuses can best respond using other university experiences to provide context.
