On Monday, February 8 at 4pm EST, HxA member Erec Smith, Associate Professor of Rhetoric at York College of Pennsylvania, led a session addressing anti-racism in academia. Smith presented on his book, A Critique of Anti-racism in Rhetoric and Composition: The Semblance of Empowerment, spoke to what he sees as the problems of many anti-racist approaches to teaching and scholarship, and then explored empowerment theory and collaborative pedagogy as solutions to these problems.
