Join the campus community at Virginia Tech for their final meetup of the semester!

The topic of conversation for this meetup will be conservative and liberal professors in higher education. Why are there so many liberal professors and so few conservative professors? Joseph Bedford has curated a few resources to explore prior to the meeting. The first is Chapter 2 “Why Are They Liberal? The Standard Explanations” from Neil Gross’s (2013) book Why Are Professors So Liberal and Why Do Conservatives Care? The second is Chapter 3 “The Bias Debate” from Shields & Dunn’s (2016) book Passing on the Right: Conservative Professors in the Progressive University. Both readings offer different perspectives on the issue.
