Why is Gen Z So Different? How the Great Rewiring of Childhood will Impact Everything
Has the rise of smartphones and social media reshaped youth development? Should we be limiting screen time for young people at school and at home? Social psychologist and bestselling author Jonathan Haidt believes we should. Since 2018, Haidt has been researching the link between social media and the mental health crisis affecting today’s youth. In his latest book, "The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness," Haidt dives deep into how digital devices have led to a shift from play-based childhoods to phone-based ones.
We Talk invites you to join us for this virtual appearance with Haidt to hear about his research, the current mental health situation, and some actionable ideas to better prepare Gen Z and beyond to wisely navigate the virtual world. Refreshments (including free pizza) will be available starting at 4:15pm. Jonathan Haidt will deliver a virtual presentation at 5:00pm followed by open Q&A. This event is open to campus and the community and free parking is available in lot 41. Please register in advance.
We welcome your inquiries and hope to see you for this great opportunity to meet virtually with Jonathan Haidt, who is also Chair of the Board at Heterodox Academy, an important We Talk partner!
