The HxA Campus Community at S.I.U. strives to connect people with various viewpoints who share a common interest in improving higher education through open inquiry and constructive disagreement.
The HxA Campus Community and Southern Illinois University – Carbondale believes that higher education derives its legitimacy from the core values of viewpoint diversity, open inquiry, and constructive disagreement. We welcome faculty and students, with all viewpoints and diverse disciplinary backgrounds, who share a common interest in facilitating civil discourse oriented around the principles of free speech and critical thought. We intend to host events designed to bring heterodox perspectives to campus. During these events we aspire to promote civil discourse by encouraging all participants to adopt the HxA Way when participating in intellectual debate.
