University of South Florida
Heterodox Academy at the University of South Florida aims to advance civil discourse on important academic and social issues through open inquiry, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement.
Heterodox Academy at University of South Florida is an open, diverse, nonpartisan organization comprised of USF faculty, staff, and students with divergent views on important academic, scientific, intellectual, and social issues. We are united in our commitment to promoting free speech and the HxA principles of open inquiry, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement. We follow the HxA Way of exploring these sometimes difficult topics – making your case with evidence and being intellectually charitable and humble, constructive, and yourself.
We intend to serve as a resource to support and equip USF students, faculty, and staff to have confidence to express their opinions and views and to consider and discuss other viewpoints. We envision people of goodwill at USF coming together to grapple with challenging topics in ways that advance knowledge, understanding, and solutions to critical issues. We hold virtual meetings and discussions as well as in-person gatherings; we plan public events for our campuses and local communities; we welcome opportunities to engage with USF students, faculty, and staff; and we invite any and all USF members to join our HxA Campus Community.
Do you believe in open inquiry? A group of courageous professors and students have come together on the University of South Florida campus because they believe in open inquiry, too. Will you help them? Your donation will help the HxA Campus Community at University of South Florida put on events that support the cause of open inquiry. As a supporter, you will receive invitations to HxA campus events, and updates on HxA activities on your campus and on other campuses all around the country.
