“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language. And next year’s words await another voice.”
—T.S. Eliot, Little Gidding
Please Note: The application period for the HxA Writing Fellowship has now passed. Please subscribe to our bulletin to learn about future opportunities.
The national discussion on viewpoint diversity and open inquiry awaits another voice. Are you ready to contribute yours? With an eye toward increasing the range and visibility of perspectives engaged in this critical conversation, HxA will select up to 10 members to participate in “Write to Change the World,” an intensive one-day op-ed writing workshop.
The workshop is organized and facilitated by The OpEd Project – a think tank and leadership organization that accelerates the ideas and impact of underrepresented voices. Selected participants also gain exclusive access to 3-months of engagement with The OpEd Project’s Editor-Mentors and an invite to join the HxA Writer’s Group as an HxA Writing Fellow.
Applicants will select a workshop date and location that aligns with their availability. Visit The OpEd Project website for a full list of cities and dates. HxA will cover the registration costs for the workshop. To apply: submit a complete application form, which will be coming soon to this page, by April 20, 2020. Direct questions to Cory Clark, at clark@heterodoxacademy.org.
In order to increase public awareness about the importance of viewpoint diversity and open inquiry on college campuses and elsewhere, heterodox enthusiasts must make their case with persistence and passion. As The OpEd Project states, “We believe the best ideas, regardless of where they come from, should have a chance to be heard and change the world.” We need your voice in this conversation.
Submissions will be evaluated on the extent to which applicants and/or their projects
(a) contribute new perspectives and nuanced positions;
(b) increase the range of perspectives/viewpoints engaged in the national conversation;
(c) explore issues relevant to the HxA mission;
(d) reflect The HxA Way; and
(e) evidence commitment to full participation in this opportunity.
Only completed applications will be reviewed.
