How Will The College Admissions Ruling Change Diversity in Higher Ed?
Examining implications and approaches in a post-affirmative action higher ed
Event Date: Wednesday, July 26, 4pm ET
The recent SCOTUS ruling striking down race-based admission programs at Harvard and UNC makes salient numerous questions about student diversity in higher education. Selective admissions can no longer use race as a consideration toward the stated goal of increasing student diversity on campus. But how will the ruling really change higher ed? And, will goals of viewpoint diversity take a more prominent place in selective college admissions?
Our panel of experts in law, policy, and sociology discuss the practical implications of the ruling, the varied reactions to the ruling across higher education and, importantly, how colleges should consider diversity of all types in admissions moving forward.
