Virginia Tech Campus Community Meet-up
Join the HxA Campus Community at Virginia Tech for their first meetup of the semester!
Lifting up the “HxA Way,” this meetup will be based on two readings with opposing viewpoints (linked above) that everyone should read prior to the meeting. This meetup's readings center around the issue of identity politics.
- The first reading is an article written by Francis Fukyama (2018) “Against Identity Politics: The New Tribalism and the Crisis of Democracy”
- The second reading is a response to Fukuyama’s article by Stacey Abrams and colleagues (2019) in Foreign Affairs Magazine titled “E Plurbius Unum? The Fight over Identity Politics”.
Finally, we encourage you to invite a friend! The best way to build our HxA Campus Community is through word of mouth. These meetings are an opportunity to foster dialogue across difference, build shared understanding, and model the values that HxA stands for including intellectual humility, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement. Hopefully, in the process, we will not only get to know new people around campus but also deepen our understanding of each other.
